Adult Basic Education

Program Information

The Adult Basic Education (ABE) program is designed for students seeking to improve their reading, writing, and math skills in order to succeed in the high school program and to prepare for the high school equivalency exam or career and technical training.

The program serves:

  • Native English-speakers with limited literacy or math skills (below 9th-grade level)

  • English as a Second Language (ESL) transition students

  • Concurrently enrolled high school students

ABE classes use research-based teaching methods to build essential reading, writing, math, critical thinking, and problem solving skills using whole-group, small-group, and individual instruction.
