Intensive English Program (IEP)

The Intensive English Program (IEP is a fast-paced ESL program that prepares students for college/university education, professional exams and English competency for current and future professionals. IEP consists of ESL levels 2 - 6. The program emphasizes academic English skills. It is a carefully coordinated program that builds skills step by step. In level 2, for example, students write simple paragraphs. By level 6 they write a complete research paper following APA rules. The following topcis are comprehensively covered: grammar, reading, writing, listening, speaking, study and test-taking skills. TOEFL exam preparation is an important component of the IEP. Prerequisites: 1. Students must take three tests: reading, writing, and grammar. 2. Speaking ability assessment interview with IEP counselor. Schedule & Homework: Students must attend classes Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM - 5:15 PM and should expect at least two hours of homework per night. Cost: Books = $70 - $100 Current IEP Information: Only 35 spaces available for placement test! Testing space is limited to a first-come, first-served basis. Please come to the Counseling Office in Room 102 for an evaluation to determine if you will be able to sign up for the next available test date. Testing dates Tuesday, September 14, Thursday, September 16, and Tuesday September 21 are already filled. No more space is available. The testing date now available is Thursday, September 23, 2010. Once our September testing has filled, sign-ups for October and November testing dates will become available.
