The General Educational Development Test is a a battery of five tests given either over 2 weekdays, 3 weeknights or 2 consecutive Saturdays on the Evans campus. By passing all five tests, you will earn a G.E.D. High School Equivalency Certificate. All prospective GED candidates should take the Official Practice Tests at their adult school and only proceed with the official GED Exam upon counselor or teacher recommendation. This will assist in a more successful outcome. THE 5 SECTIONS OF THE GED ARE AS FOLLOWS: Language Arts - Writing Part I 1 Hour 15 Minutes Recognizing or correcting errors and shifting constructions in the four areas of organization, sentence structure, usage, and mechanics Part II 45 Minutes Writing an essay that deals with ideas in organized, logical manner on a given topic Language Arts - Reading 1 Hour and 5 Minutes Reading literary text and being able to comprehend, apply, analyze, synthesize and evaluate concepts Science 1 Hour 20 Minutes Reading passages or interpreting graphs, charts, maps, cartoons, diagrams or photographs Strong reading and critical thinking skills essential Social Studies 1 Hour 10 Minutes Reading passages or interpreting graphs, charts, maps, cartoons, diagrams or photographs Strong reading and critical thinking skills essential Mathematics Part I 45 Minutes Use of the Casio FX-260 calculator permitted Calculator provided by the test site Part II 45 Minutes No calculator permitted |
